The best way to avoid the photographer's shadow?

Sometimes the photographer's shadow gets in the picture. It's almost inevitable when you want to put certain scenery in the backdrop and your object in the foreground, but the sun is behind your (the photographer's) back.

What is the best way to avoid the photographer's shadow getting in the picture? I can think of using an off-camera fill-in flash to sort of mask the shadow with bright light, although I haven't tried it.

Is there a better way?

Put the sun over your shoulder instead of your back and then use a reflector or flash to give a slight lessening to the shadows cast on the subject from the light coming at an angle.

Maybe not best/better, but certainly easier...change the setup so the photograhers shadow is no longer in the shot. That will also provide more interesting light on the scene.
