To add to what Keith mentioned, most of the reason that a silver structure is lost against a dark brown mountain is lighting. Your lighting is coming from high and right in the first two shots; if you try a re-shoot at a time of day when the sun is lower, and preferably much farther over to camera left, you'll have an entirely different image.
