This is not good. Extremely gray. No highlight detail. No real shadows. Compression halos. Uninteresting subject matter.

Well, thank you for your critique, I am a beginner at this so I could use the helpful hints. the picture actually looks nicer when its in a smaller format.

Remember in black and white that you should have a good range of tones from black to white. Detail in highlights and shadows is very important. But here there are very few shadows, and the highlights are basically white. Everything else is gray. That range of tones is mostly absent. When you're doing your conversion you should pay special attention to these things.
