What's new

The Coffee House

Once again we had winter come knocking, with temps overnight dropping to 27F. Dont know if it's the up/down weather or something else working on me, but I've been in a "funk" for the past few weeks, just can't get motivated to do anything but the absolutely necessary.
I've been hammered with allergies brought on by all the dust that the wind has kicked up around here. It was supposed to stop, but its still going strong.

Maple buds always provoke a few sneezes here. Happily endured over borderline frostbite in Feb.!
Local sugarbush owners are getting ready to pound in spiles next week. Maple syrup soon!

Happy Friday, Hoserpeeps! The day started out chilly but finished at 77F. The wind is supposed to abate and tomorrow and Sunday are supposed to be warm, sunny days. Sunday is loving Frau and my 40th anniversary, so I'm taking her to see Les Mis at the Bass Performance Hall. I purchased tix in a side balcony near the stage with a good view of both the stage and the orchestra pit. This weekend's other fun events, hanging a storm door that has a sliding screened window, and assembling an 85" tall by 81" wide wrought iron plant arbor for the Major Wheeler honeysuckle, as well as a dozen five gallon grow bags to place strategically around the yard with various plants. I'll put each bag on an 18"x18" paver to help them last a little longer, since direct contact with the ground will probably cause them to deteriorate faster. Some of the flowers that I will (try to) grow are Autumn Beauty sunflowers, Candy Cane zinnia, Pastel (Fruit Smoothie?) zinnias, mixed color gazanias, and Jolly Jester marigolds. The Purple Salvia and Butterfly Milkweed are starting to make their come back. We'll see how it goes.

Total Wine & More should have some big sales going on around here in the near future...
French and Italian bottles still on the shelves along with Canadian spirits and Canadian wines.
Newfoundland "Screech" rum might get pricier on your shelves, though.

I think Jackie D and other American distillers are going to have fire sales in order to move product that they normally export. And I stopped drinking...

Lucky you! I keep a stocked cabinet for purely medicinal/religious purposes. Not all in my household buy that, though...No end to my suffering as you might imagine.

To get your day started off properly... I'd like each of you to go to your bedroom or bathroom mirror. Get close. Stare at your face intently. Now, place your left thumb into your left ear, palm forward, fingers extended upward, then place your right thumb into your right ear, palm forward, fingers extended upward. Wiggle your hands, alternately, back and forth, vigorously and repeat ... "blurdle, urdle, urdle."
I would like, very much, any reactions or responses. :cheerful:

Any chance you've been through behavioral therapy?

No thanks, I'll stick with my cup of tea.

Well, that was really rude! Got an email yesterday afternoon, layoffs are coming tomorrow, check your email in the morning. Not a single wink of sleep. Going through all sorts of scenarios on how to mitigate retiring early with much less than planned. Checked the email this morning, and all it had was a link for a meeting later in the morning. Glad to say, I still have a job, but not happy with how they went about it.
So glad you still have your job!
