The Coffee House

Wow saw the news on the earthquake in Thailand, it was bad. Any TPF members affected?
An acerbic old friend in Bangkok texted,"Definitely shaken not stirred." He said word out of Yangon was of widespread, severe damage. No power or water. Very under-developed place
compared to Thailand.

Sleepy morning, peeps.
I seem to have twisted my back and strained my upper arm. I'm on pain relievers and muscle relaxers for a few days. No Jeeper things for me, this weekend. I have to run lazy lobster down to Portland to see a dentist this morning so I'll delay that pill.
Speedy recovery!

Well darn it to heck and back again! Rodent got inside my car through the ac/heating ducts. Found shredded insulation all over the floor on the drivers side and poop on the pax side this morning. I set a live trap in the car in hopes of catching it, then we take a walk down to the nature preserve to engage some bobcats and coyotes. If that doesn't work, then I'll have no choice but to set a snap trap, and I hate doing that. Have to find out where it entered and how much damage was done to the ducting. I can't run the AC because when I turn it on, the fan it hitting something, probably a nest it has built. Not sure if I can access the ducting in this 2024 model car.

Heyho folks! Today we celebrated our 40th Anniversary by going to see the Broadway release of Les Misérables at the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth. Wow! That was an incredible performance. We sat in a balcony just left of stage overlooking the orchestra pit, so we only got to see 3/4 of the stage, but the music and the singing were phenomenal, so we really didn't care. Not sure if I'm getting more sentimental with age, but there were a few parts where "I got a bit of dust in my eyes." Afterwards we went to Maggiano's for a nice meal. Good weekend, but far too short.
Congratulations! We just celebrated our 60th.

That stinks! I'm so sorry.

We should be able to just explain to our aging bodies that we don't have time for this kind of crap. :irked:

Hope you recover quickly!

You might try accessing your model's cabin/pollen filter--locations often online in DIY filter service videos. Fans and duct work are often nearby and accessible.

Yep, I'm going to give that a try. I usually replace the cabin filer myself, since I can buy a much better quality one for much less than the dealership charges. If I can't get all the nesting (and rat) out, then it'll be about USD $300-$500 for the mechs to get in there and clean it out. It did not take the cheese from the trap last night, so will try that again. Need to find where it entered and find a way to block it off.

Can only further suggest looking at inside intakes for recirc air or anything open around the bottom of the windscreen--usual spot for fresh air intakes.
With rodents, I find passive methods usually work. But for the aggressive ones, I've no problem with lethal measures. No harm taking the smart ones out of the gene pool...
My dentist recently laid out nearly 4 grand getting a km of wiring replaced in a newish F-150 pickup. Seems mice and/or red squirrels found something intoxicating in the insulation on the underhood wire harness.

I heard it's because they use a soy-base insulation now

You know how hard it is to find a pencil thin mechanic with 6ft long arms that can work under the dash of these modern marvels.

Oi, freezing rain tonight across central-eastern Ontario. NO fun. Biggest worry is power outages caused by falling tree limbs. Damn! Where's Spring??? Happy fact: have sufficient salt left to melt any ice and pickle us and the neighbors!

@cgw I'll trade you our blanket of dreaded yellow Pine Pollen for your freezing rain. We got home today to find the cursed stuff covering everything. Supposed to have rain Monday that will clear the air and create rivers of yellow for some temporary relief. For now my only hope is that the Ibuprofen will silence the banging in my sinuses.

Well...I did it. I put film in the camera yesterday. It's been several months since I touched a camera.

Walked around and took 10 photos with some spare time....I don't know it felt kinda good to do it again. The biggest thing for me is the fact that taking photos just kinda lets me escape my thoughts and focus them on creating.

Kind addicted to see how this "Fomapan 400" turns out...I'm shooting it about 1 stop over. Hoping it will give me slightly better contrast. We shall see.

Yes, my preferred method as well. Die Frau says, "Kill it! Kill it with fire!"

Yes, they use "green" wiring that decomposes in the landfill. Apparently copper isn't valuable enough to recycle?
