The pond has been draining for a few days now, but there is more water to draw out. They usually drop it about eight feet for the winter. I can start cutting down the monster grass and reeds, as soon as the mud dries a bit. I figure I can cut it a couple times before the snows hit, then a couple times in the spring before the dam gates are closed and the water level rises again. Just part of property cleanup though the pond belongs to the state.
The town has a couple cleanup events that cover the area near the park / boat ramp. I didn't go last year but I'll go this time. The park is close enough I can drive the tractor (OK, riding mower) and trailer down and use that to go out and haul the junk in from the lake bed. If it's muddy, I can use the truck.
