uh...no. "Maverick" can be 2 or 3, so it works; same thing with "warrior." But line 3 is 6, any way you cut it. American=4, McCain=2.

I can't pronounce warrior ... "war·rior" but it works for Haiku. Other sources has warrior as three syllables.

I agree on #1 and 2, as stated. You're reaching on A-MER-i-can. But whatever makes you happy. It's not correct, I think the M-W needs fixing.

...and in #1 here, you're giving it 3 syllables as written. In order to make it 2, you should show it: MAV-rick. Many folks pronounce it this way. Warrior for me is 3 syllables, but it can regionally be pronounced WAWR-yer. It can work.
