The harshness of nature

Spotted this blackbird on the table - kept the blind side always towards the house.

Four days later you can see how it has been stripped back to the bone.

Still feeding a few days on, but I am not sure how much longer it will last.

Another week or so on - doing well and still feeding normally with the feathers seeming to have started growing back. By the reaction to movement when I am on the "blind" side, I think there may be some sight in this eye as well I am sure was not there when I took the first pictures.

If it's been a week he should be fine for the most part. He may never regain all his sight though.

He may have a few complications in a few months if the eye socket ends up abscessing, but it looks like it's draining on it's own for now.

Wish him luck! He's going to need it
