This is Connor, my apprentice for the last two years. He's like my little brother now more than anything. I freakin love this kid so much.

I so wish you were closer to me. I would absolutely love for you to do a photoshoot with my kid. I don't know why, but I think you and him would really hit it off and you'd be able to capture his huge personality in a picture. Love this shot.

Aaaw, thank you! What a compliment!

I wanted to clarify my statement a bit and explain why I said it.

Most people, when they take pictures of other people, use the best lighting they can and pose the people in flattering poses. There is nothing wrong with that. But when I look at your pictures, I sense a life story. Like your subway shot. In any other pose, he would have looked like someone in a costume. You took the picture in such a way, that it conveys a very interesting life behind the picture, at least in my eyes. I've looked through your portfolio and get that same sense. You don't use the normal photography conventions to get your shot. And your shots are more powerful, at least to me because of it.

My "kid" is 23. He has a huge passion for life, for those around him and he's a wonderful person. But he's often (always) judged because he looks different. He wears a hat with ears (and there is a very powerful story behind the hat too), he has dreads, he doesn't look like what society thinks a "normal" 23 year should look like. Whenever we are out together, I see the stares. Funny enough, it's the under 30 crowd that stares. The elderly seem to adore him. He is an extremely good person, loves people, is polite, well spoken, he's just "different" in appearance. This is the kid who when 18, came and spent the weekend with me in a tiny town, with no internet and no cable, just to watch a harry potter marathon with him mom. And spend mother's day every year with me letting me photograph him to my hearts content. Because he loves me and he knew that would make me happy.

The reason I said I would love for you to shoot him, is because I think that you would *get* that difference in him and portray it in a photograph. You would be able to do shots in a way that show his personality and him the way he really is. His "life story" beind the picture. So yes, if you are *ever* near Ontario, please let me know and if you're willing, I'd be thrilled to hire you for a small photoshoot with him.

Beautifully done. Shows the personality well, nice balance and framing and - everything.

(This is a 'kid'?? I expected to see, well, a littler one... lol)

Again, what an amazing compliment! Thank you!

What are your son's career goals? Perhaps he could have a future in editorial fashion styling.

He wanted to be a chef, but has recently changed his mind. He really wants to be a profession skate boarder or long boarder or snow boarder. lol He's 23, he's not sure. He lives for his longboard, calls it his girlfriend and he take it everywhere with him. I think he just needs to travel the world. It would be an awesome experience for him and I think he would love it. Not sure about fashion, he doesn't like commercialized anything. But hey, you never know. He's smart, he'll figure out his place in life eventually.

Haha, I'm very familiar with longboard obsessions!
Whatever he chooses, I agree with you that travel is something that will do him a lot of good. I've lived in a few big cities and small ones, and each place teaches me lessons that are invaluable. School is great for some people but does NOT work for me, so I use traveling the world as my way of finding higher education.
