Mathew - great pictures. I am curious where you took them. One question about the first one - you state that it is a "younger anhinga" - I would suggest that it looks like a male in full breeding colours - notice the blue ring around its eyes.

Ah, you got a Kingfisher ... I still have not captured a good shot of them.

yeah, well I did, but I cropped it like that cause this is where he was... which is still probably the sharpest and closest I have gotten to one. and that would be 500mm + 1.4x converter and then in DX crop mode = 1050mm plus more, crop. shot out of a car hand held.
