The Magpie Family.

I have a Magpie family that has there nest in the front tree, we get the quackings each season for 10 odd months before they get chased away. By this time there usally standing on me sitting in my hand and eating from it, but there's always a shy one that i cant get to do this.

Started off with Heckle n' Jeckle,

The next season was Stormy, he had a brother but he died in the nest. He was kicked outta the nest by mum & dad but the poor bugger fell outta the tree. He came straight to my front door & definitely needed a good bath. Lol...

He couldn't fly yet so i picked him up and brought him into the backyard sanctuary where its safe, i got to watch him take flight for the first time 3 weeks later. Brilliant!

I'll post up the other fella's later on in the day, need to get back outside and find a rabbit to tickle. Hope you guys like them.

So this season they had 2 and this year broke my heart.

Little Bandit broke his wing, i took him to the vet but they had to put him to sleep. I brought him home to bury in my cats cherry tree/tulip garden.

Really miss this little fella.

And his brother Swoops, he was really skittish and couldn't get near him but he's pretty good now. I've tried hand feeding him the other day, we all most done it.

Having a nap.

Ps. I'll do Mum n' Dad this evening, what a pair they are.

And his Mr's aka Sexy Legs, taking some bedding to the nest.

She even comes inside the house sometimes

... so thats my magpies.

Nice series mate. Always good to make friends with maggies. I can still hear the sound of the wings as they swooped me on my bike when I lived in the country.

Very nice set of images! We have crows and blue jays (same family as magpies I think), but they really haven't got close as of yet. The blue jay did bring a gift in exchange for the suet nuggets it gets from the feeder. It left a piece of paper towel for me... maybe I need to clean up or something...

They definitely have a distinctive sound to them

Cheers Mr would love to see a Blue Jay or Cardinal, very cool markings and colours to them.
