The Monster - a Big digger during night time

Welcome fokker

It's a real star. I didn't add anything to the picture .. the sky was clear that day :)

Interesting, last night was a clear night here and I was shooting at f1.8 ISO25600 5 seconds to get a decent exposure on the stars, thats about 8 stops more exposure than what you have.

While shooting stars etc, which combination is better? wide aperture + fast shutter or narrow aperture + slow shutter, ISO being kept constant?
Regards :D

I think the best setting for shooting stars :

wide aperture
Slow shutter
use high ISO ( Depends on the amount of lighting )
activation of noise reduction

Try these settings on the night and the moon unavailable

shutter speed 30 second
aperture 4.0
ISO 2000 or 1600 like what you want :)

The major limiting factor is shutter speed if you want sharp stars, rather than star trails (blurred movement). The shutter speed you can get away depends on the focal length, at wide angles you can get away with 20-30 seconds, telephoto is much less.

Love the exposure and processing but I feel like the CAT should be more to the left of the frame.

That wasn't a star, but the planet Venus which is very bright right now. Creative use of local light. Good image.
