Not Pulitzer Prize winning material of course, but I'm looking for a little direction. Which is working best?

Original

Black and White

And using color balance

I like the b+w ... but here's something I can't quite make out in either version: is that needle lying in some kind of bedding or so?
And what is "the damage done"? (Maybe it is an allusion to a song title, or else why would you need to apologise to Neil Young?)

I am liking the original the best, a grest shot. Looks like it is lying in some sort of gel or liquid.
Nice though.

I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door
I love you, baby,
can I have some more
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the city and
I lost my band
I watched the needle
take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song
because I love the man
I know that some
of you don't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.

Erm, I like the colour one. I'd possibly up the saturation slightly, and maybe put a green filter on it to enhance that moody green look. Nice shot, and a good tribute to the song.

Liking all three, but I think the third has the impact stakes - floating in blood. Nice ones..

Thanks Rob, I knew someone would get it! lol

LaFoto, there was an old fish aquarium that was filled with rainwater, I chucked the needle in to see if it would float and it did. I like the stark imagery, but thought I'd try it out in red, exactly as hovis said I thought making it appear to be floating in blood was a more direct statement about the effects of abusing the instrument.

Thanks all.

Now you just need to persuade the butcher to sell you an aquarium's worth of real blood... or maybe that's taking things too far!!! Nice work.

OK, here's the proof lol...too bad I couldn't have smuggled in a tripod, maybe it wouldn't have been so blurry. Don't wanna flash a camera around the department too much, they might think I was working for Dateline NBC!
