The octopus

What do you think about the B&W and the scene ?

Had this been taken in portrait orientation, it would have been pretty neat.

It seem a bit too contrasty too me, altho the look is good.
If the corridor to the left was a little lighter, just to provide some dimension and teh child's face a bit lighter, I think it might have a more approachable interest.
(and of course, clean up the spots.)

I guess my reaction to the spots of dust is that you didn't care enough about this audience to make the picture look its best.

Well, i found it made the photo look older. They usually appear when developping photos.

I don't think they make it look older, just messier.
I don't understand what you mean by "They usually appear when developing photos."
They happen because there is dirt on either the negative if printing, the scanner glass or the print.
The spots are an indication of a lack of clean technique somewhere and are a negative thing rather than a positive sign of antiquity.

It is my opinion that, shooting in the vertical orientation would capture the whole door frame and the action within it, and also it would fill the frame with it. Filling the frame would make it more intimate. As it is now, the action is centered, and the stuff on the sides is not needed.
