Just my opinions...

First, this is not really a bad picture but my comments may sound like it is. Take with a grain of salt...

Not really a fan of black backgrounds for these kind of shots. The upside down "V" at lower left confuses and distracts me. Not sure the DOF is best choice here - I think maybe either more or less DOF might have worked better. Less would emphasize head and front "paws" splitting the subject, while more would bring in the connector between the "paws" and body (arm?) creating greater coherency. The other idea is to drop the lower left altogether and try to get more antenna with emphasize clearly on the head. I think in the end I don't like the splitting of the subject here - that lower left keeps drawing my eye away from the head.

The critter leaning slightly back also bothers me.. Feel like it is going to fall over. Picture the image rotated 45 degrees CCW without the front paws. Like the other one where it is peeping, that is telling a story I can connect with! This one doesn't seem to be telling much of a story.
