Welcome to the site. Have no clue where Southend on the Sea is, and I used to get around a lot.

Southend is at the opening of the Thames Estuary. I used to fly out of Southend to Le Torquet. Southend was a very popular seaside town after WWll.. 🍻

Ah I see. Nope, never did the north side of the estuary. Done the tourist thing one trip to Cantebury and Dover on the south side.s That was a long day. We were staying just outside Brize Norton (Company used to fly the South Atlantic Airbridge flights). Though I never made it down to the Fauklands.

Some time ago I did a lovely cruise from Southend round to Dover and back. The ship was a Dunkirk veteran (with Official name plate),, Refurbished with original engines.. Sorry can’t remember the name.. Talking about flying, at Duxford I flew in a 1934 De Havilland Dragon Rapide, quite an experience.. 😎

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton Ontario Canada has a flying Lancaster that you can take rides on. But the waiting list to do so is very very long. Can actually get a ride (for a cost) on many of their planes.

Interesting, at the time I was at Duxford, there was a Tiger Moth ride available, cost 500 UK pounds.. Even 30years ago that was prohibitive. The American Air Museum @ Duxford is very interesting.. 🍻
