The Old Peir, Maltburn Sands (Greentoft Bay) Eday, Orkney Islands by wee_pete, on Flickr
The notorious Pirate John Gow was captured on Eday, Orkney Islands, Scotland. He was reportedly moved the length of the island in an ox cart and shipped to his execution from this peir in 1725. Carrick House where he was held has a dark stain on the floor, which is said to be his blood after a failed escape attempt. I was there recently and had the fortunate experience of the sunset on this small island, the locals are friendly and the place is stunning and I managed a few pics while waiting on the ferry back to Mainland. I've always wanted a shot like this, so for me it was a good trip indeed.
As always, C&C is welcome as is any comment
