Is this a true B&W? It looks pink on the top and green on the bottom. Anyway, it's a nice shot. It might work better if the subject were closer to the right, perhaps at the extreme right of the frame.

Yes, it is a BW photo - taken using Kodak 400CN film and a basic Konika zoom compact 35mm camera. Sorry, but I feel the subject is right on the money as far as positioning goes, and moving her to the far right would lower the impact of the image. As it is, the eye is drawn immediately to the subject, and the viewer is involved in the contemplative mood of the photo - we are left wondering what the subject is thinking, and how she feels. In this respect, the shot works well, imo.

Both, and I appreciate your thoughts. Only, I have a shot of the subject very much as you suggest, with the subject placed at the right of frame, and indeed it works very well - however, she is turning away from the scene before her and moving on and so there is a different dynamic involved. What I wanted to capture here was the mood and my feeling is that the way the subject is standing makes me want to position her as I have. It might have helped the overall feel a bit if I'd caught the little boy a little more to the right of the main subject, but his dad had just yelled Basta! and he was a quick little fellow...
