Interesting find! What is the story behind the shoes?

This is an old stump in the town I grew up in. It sits on the property of a family that has lived there for generations and has always had shoes on this stump.
I never paid it any attention until this morning.
Not really sure of the meaning behind the shoe.

It's the tree of lost soles. There's a big one in N. AL. The shoe laces are tied together and thrown up in the tree. Gathered a ton of shoes over the years.

Since it's in a town where a zombie grew up, I would guess the shoes represent children who've had their faces eaten off or something like that.

I hadn't thought of that possibility........memories of meals past.
