Let me know what you think and what to do different! I know the white balance is off a little but was more concerned with lighting.Oh and the cracker and cell phone were the only way to get her to sit in the chair! Thanks!

Good set-up; the key light seems a little hot to me, and I would consider raising that up so that she only has one catchlight. The only other niggle is the harsh shadow on the chair. I think moving the light further back and closer to the camera (say 20 deg) might have helped that. Good job!

Thanks! I assume the key light is the flash?

Her face seems to not be in focus..? Nice lighting though.

Jake

Key light = main light. So in this case, your flash was your key, your reflector was your fill.

Very nice! I like the photos and enjoy that you added a photo of how you set it up. Thanks and keep showing us more.

Perhaps try hanging a thin sheet infront of the flash to provide some much needed softening. . .

shot look good tho! Sweeeeeet tripod! Manfrotto?

To compensate for the shadow on the chair, you can use a cheap booster flash (you can usually pick one of these up for <$20). Also, you can get a softbox for the flash (someone mentioned a sheet and that would work too). Lastly, the floor is a little distracting. To take care of this, you could get a larger background and have it curl to cover the floor and then put the chair on that. That last part is more a personal opinion as some people will like the hardwood!

Thanks everyone for comments and much needed advice!

D-B-J as far as focus It looks to be pretty sharp to me??? The second one may have a little motion blur from her jumping off of chair. Maybe it needs a little more sharpening?

The flash does have a stofen diffuser on it and I had my lumiquest softbox on for a while but velcro fell off.

We were iced in here in Dallas so I used what I had in the house.

Biggs88 the tripod is a vista its not the best but works great for me!
