Certainly that red coat in Schindler's List was the most effective and painful use of selective color I've ever seen.

Including the extract from the poem influences the viewers' response to this image so that critique of it as is is no longer possible.

Call it mixed media.
We ignore all sorts of things and still give straightforward responses to the image unaffected by its surroundings.
The quote was inserted and curtailed so that people might remember or look up the entire poem and see it as an ironic comment on the actual meaning of that man's house by the side of the road.
