The Targa Rally New Zealand 2010

[Wozza]

Took a week off work and followed this event down the country. Because of how long the roads were closed, it's very hard to get to multiple races in the same day. You pretty much have to find a good place to get off the road and then sit in the sun for a number of hours - it's a hard life.

The event works its way down the North Island of New Zealand stopping at a lot of small towns. The back-roads the event is held upon are nothing short of stunning. It's good fun pulling out behind the safety car that whizzes through the stage to announce the road is open again and giving it a slight blat.

Also a Porsche GT3 RS which didn't start off with this colour front end...

This GT-R35 had to retire early because of engine problems, which you can see resulted in all this smoke. It was burning through all it's oil in a stage so they rightfully decided to withdraw before damaging the car more. Shame, they were in second place.

For those interested, the final results in the modern competition were Skyline, Evo, Skyline, Evo, Skyline, Evo lol
