Sitting on the balcony this evening & watching two rabbits relaxing in my garden waiting till dark to ravage my beans, lettuce & chard.

No doubt they will be joined by others.

Almost certainly this is just the advance recce party. They'll pass the word to the rest of warren and there won't be a green thing left on the Evers' property. Think: "Curse of the Were-Rabbit".

There must have been a die-off of foxes & coyotes, as there have never been so many rabbits here in the 45 years we have been here. One can look out in the yard anytime & see one or more of them.

I get rabbits too. I like seeing them, sometimes they get adventurous and come around into the front yard. I like the way that one is camped out right by the tomatoes! lol Not good for you or the tomatoes though...

The tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers & squash are safe but the rest is mowed down.

Nice pic! Years ago when I had an American Fuzzy Lop that liked to chew on my speaker wires, etc, etc, I read somewhere that if you mix cayenne pepper with some water and spray it on things they like to chew on it will detour them. Can't say it would work on veggies but maybe worth a try. Even if it doesn't stay on the veggies, if they get a taste of it just once they might remember it and avoid it but then there are other rabbits to try for the first time as well so reapplying would probably be necessary. (it doesn't hurt them in case anyone is wondering)
