Yes, I would agree with Fred...the one with the pastel panels has been composed in a fun and interesting way, the other one is not quite so pleasingly composed...there's something about the bottom of the frame in the B&W/selective color image that's not quite as welcoming as the way the color shot was composed and framed.
I like the blue and blue corners in the color shot...the opposing corners both being blue and both being corners helps tie the shot together, while the line breaks the pattern, which is a very strengthening technique; to compose using pattern or repetition, but then to bring in a bit of variety, or some dissonance.
