This lens is my first choice?

What are you shooting with currently? Body, lens?

Gators...with a 24-70, maybe with 3, 2x teleconverters! I'll skip on that one though.

The new Nikkor 24-120 f4 is a nice lens and a nice range on full frame. A bit long on the wide end for dx, but that is only an opinion. A very nice tele zoom for either dx or fx is the 70-200 f2.8 with VR. The lenses mentioned are not cheap.

As was asked above, what are you using right now - what is your kit lens and what body are you using?

I have a 24-70mm and it good for wide shots and stuff but for good zoom go for the 70-200mm
