Has anyone worked with these lenses.

Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM
$ 670.00

Canon 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 USM
$ 717.00

Tokina AF 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX
$ 600.00

Photozone lab tests dont rate the Canon 10-22mm as highly as other two lenses

From what I have read I suspect the Sigma 8-16mm performs best ?? oh on an APS-C sensor camera that is..

Iam trying to decide between these 3 wide lenses to put on the Canon 60D Im about to purchase.

Cheers.

As was discussed in the other "super-wide" thread...

The Tokina and Sigma are the top choices. The Tokina being a bit more limiting in the zoom range, but making up for it in quality and aperture.

My friend that shoots a Canon 7D has the same Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 that I do for Nikon, and we both swear by the lens. It's amazing at the price range. I really don't feel that the limited aperture (f/4 on the wide end) is "limiting" at all really. But that's a personal preference.

Good luck in your decision ;)

When I bought my Canon 10-22mm, is was rated (by some) as good or better than all the other lenses in this category. I even read an article or two that said they wished it was available in a Nikon mount because it was better than anything from Nikon or from a 3rd party.

I don't doubt that some have these other lenses rated better...it can be pretty subjective.

One thing to consider, is that some of them, the Sigma 8-16mm for example, can't use filters because of the convex front element. It actually has a special slide on lens cap.

Don't forget there is also a sigma 10-20mm f3.5 lens on the market and a variable aperture version of the same lens - both optically as good as the canon 10-20mm with the f3.5 sigma having the advantage of a constant wide aperture.

The sigma 8-16mm is very impressive optically, though it is a "no filter" lens currently. Lee filters are making adaptors for some of these "no filter" lenses but as yet don't have one for the 8-16mm. There are (if you google around) some custom DIY methods for attaching filters to this lens (square/rectangle filters of course).
