Tidal Basin, Washington Monument and Cherry Blossoms

Yup.. it's that time of year again. I posted some of mine from last year and well, they were greeted with a warm welcome. Here are some from this year's trip. I went down Friday night on the 4th, it was cloudy and overcast and nasty out. Again Sat Am, and then Sat/Sun the following weekend.

1. This is one of my favorite pictures.

You just HAD to say that.....I was up early on Sunday and was going to drive down to see the sunrise. But my wife wasn't up yet and she had talked about seeing the cherry blossoms on Sunday so I held off...grrrrrr.....

LOL... uumm OOppsss The good and bad about this time of year, The bad - EVERYBODY wants to come down so you have to get up early to find a good spot and plant yourself. The Good - If you get a good spot your set for the morning, and if you're a photographer that likes to get street type pictures, there are PLENTY of opportunities.

I went a few years back. I'm imagining that sunrise is the best time to go to avoid the crowds. They were pretty spectacular.

For me, the first one almost works. The cherry blossoms, though, are just a touch too bright, and detract from the monument. I feel like the third one is leaning ever so slightly to the left. Then again, I haven't finished my first cup of coffee.

Beautiful! I have to say that my favorite is the first photo. I love the colors and how the cherry blossoms frame the monument.

I would love to go to DC at this time of the year... #2 is by far my favorite. Spectacular colors. Can't wait to see those from Sunday.

Steve thanks for the feedback. The point was to high light the cherry blossoms and the monument was secondary. I thought about blurring the monument but then you have this big blurry thing in the middle so I abandoned the idea.

Thanks for #2, and I'll have to check on #3. #3 is my first Pano so it may be off, but I'm pretty good and alinging my horizons (I have crocked pics unless planned). Maybe you were leaning cuz the coffee hadn't kicked in yet

nice photos. sad to say but the times I've been to Washington I really never had time for photos. seemed I was running all day looking at monuments and the Smithsonian and everything else..
