Timelapse - with a constant power supply

I've just recently got into making timelapse movies. I'm using Olympus E-420 with a timer remote control device plugged in. It does a great job, though the battery itself is getting drained after some time. Surprising, isn't it? Making a camera run for a long period of time ( we're talking about a ... day for instance ) is not possible in these conditions, moreover - when depleting the battery entirely, it gets exhausted and may not function as good as before. That's why I wonder if there's a way to connect my camera with a constant power supply of some sort. Is it technically possible? If not, how could I extend the length the camera stays on? How do people "normally" get these problems solved?

I know that some cameras have an AC adapter, but a quick Google search says that there isn't one available for the E-420, so I'm not sure how you'd do that. Hopefully someone else with more experience with that camera has a solution.

Battery hot swap?

It didn't work for me, but maybe i'm just not quick enough.
