I know this might sound like a bit of a silly question, but i was making my first ever attempt at a self portrait the other day and had real trouble getting anything focused!

I didnt realise that such a simple thing could prove such a problem for.

Any tips from anyone please? How do you do it?

PS. not sure wether this should be in general Q&A's but i thought i would put it here, as it is portrait related

Here's a good tip. Set up a tripod where you want to shoot from, in regards to where you will pose. Then walk with your camera to the spot where you will pose. Be sure and mark it. Focus on the head of the tripod. Walk back, put the camera on the tripod, start the self timer, and walk back to the spot you marked. Everything should be in focus. Now if you are using a very large aperture, like 1.8, it will be next to impossible to get what you want in focus. You are best off at f/4 and smaller.

hah, nice one for the tips.

never thought of that tripod idea, seems so simple once your told!
