Tis the season for vultures

It seems it is always vulture season here. Somedays you can see an entire flock of 30-50 of them circling. They roost at an old baseball field just up the street from me.

We have steady supply but they're more noticeable now for me since most other birds are in migration and not as plentiful.

Great shot

We aways have them here too, but they are usually way up in the thermals. Keep wondering how to lure them down without a carcass. ;)

They are one of my favorites, really nice shot!

Thank you.

Most birds take off into the wind so positioning yourself upwind can sometimes help if they are on or near the ground.
It's mostly luck or scouting roadkill on a side road to see if they've found it.
I got lucky today it was a really strong wind so it took off towards me.
