Years ago, in 1987, one of the best trout fishing spots I ever found on Oregon's famous McKenzie River was shown to me by an osprey. We were at this park, and I heard a splash and looked toward the sound-it was an osprey with a nice trout in its talons! A while later, another spash, and an osprey with a trout clutched in its talons flew away. The water in that river is exceptionally clear, and the osprey fishin' spot had looked to me to me to be little more than ankle deep, but was actually more like belly button deep, and it held large numbers of trout, throughout the entire spring and summer and fall! I will always be grateful to that osprey for showing me something out of what looked like nothing! I started fishing that area and had tremendous success there for a couple years, until I moved away.
