What's new

Toddlers!!....

Toddlers are hard! I think after age 2 there was a period of time that all I had to show for chasing my son around were blurry shots of the back of his head. I think you've done a decent job. I don't have much to add, just agree with what others have said (except the rude one!) I don't have much studio experience so I can't really give you advice on changing the light setup. Cute kid :)

What exactly is meant by "flat light"? Even lighting? Little detail?

He is adorable! I think the pictures are precious, you did a really good job.

I think the pictures are good! I do agree that the light is very even and doesn't give dimension. I'm new to photography but I did work in a studio for 2 years (the lighting was fixed) and I can tell the difference here. But overall I think they are great and a mom would be very happy with these!

I really like them, 1 is my favorite. I am going to try the crate and sandwich idea with my toddler! They are hard to photograph!

How are you new to photography but worked in a studio? What was the lighting setup/positioning?
And thanks... I am the mom and im happy with these... lol

lol.. it was a plain donut. You need something in their hands or mouth to keep them occupied! lol

Shots like these sell, it is what i call safe lighting there are photography frachises in the UK that shoot every shot on a white background and the lights hardly ever move because white backgrounds make it very cheap to print canvases

Lol well I'm new to photography in the sense that the studio stuff is pretty much set up for you. It was a small studio here in town and they had lots of posing guides that were available. I'm new to phoography that isn't so set up already. I'm good if there are foam blocks, a nice new Nikon D1200 with a fixed lense and fixed setting for the lighting that was fixed.... lol You really didn't have to know much about photography to work there.... sadly.

So now that I have to figure out my own camera and all the settings for being outside I'm new! lol... And the lighting was fixed with a white umbrella high to the left as a fill 45 degrees. Then there was another on a rod that slid up and down a pole so that if your subjects were standing you would raise it and if they were on the floor you would lower it... pretty standard studio lighting...

And you should be really happy! He is soooo cute and you really captured some good pictures! I wish I was this good already! lol

You said my work is "bad" you would never pay me, that im "not ready" and people will be "mad at me" for going into business. hahhaha... I don't care what YOU think but thats a little different (or a whole lot) than telling me my light is "even and non dimensional"....

Not bad but the sides of your son's face are too evenly lit

Thats what I was thinking as well .. but I like them for the most part .. and WOW! He has the biggest eyes I have ever seen on a child of that age ..

I know what you are saying when you say they are hard to shoot .. I just have to let my grandchild run amok in the studio (well my photo room) and try to get the cute shots .. lol .. I have gotten a few good ones of her though .. :)
