Tokina 12-24 DX II users please help

I just bought the tokina 12-24 DX II canon mount lens. I've been reading that the aperture ribbon cable has a known defect were the cable snaps. Has this problem been resolved or is this something to be concerned about? I have read a lot on the Internet that the v1 had the aperture ribbon problem, has it been resolved? Has anyone had this lens without problems coming up?

I've had the Nikon version (older model) for a while.. 1000's of photos and not one problem.
