So what software are you speaking of here, Photoshop...,or something else?

Have you considered buying one of the cameras without an AA filter, and trying out some supersampling? It's basically the same techniques, I think, although the software may need to do some somewhat different things.

The photo itself looks like a pretty normal shot of the moon, especially at web size.

I think to appreciate this shot you'd need to see it printed big, or see the large digital file.

You could show us how much detail is there by posting 100% crops like you did above, but the image at web size looks pretty standard (to me).
