Sturdy tripod, eshutter, focus peaking in live view if you have it, always allow oscillations to settle, stop down a little to get the best optics, use cable or e-release, set ISO as high as needed to allow a faster shutter, and position tongue just so.Great shots. I struggle at getting good moon shots. Not sure I have ever got a good moon shot. Hmmm guess I need to study on how and get one.
Always have to hold the tongue just right. Key to just about everything.Sturdy tripod, eshutter, focus peaking in live view if you have it, always allow oscillations to settle, stop down a little to get the best optics, use cable or e-release, set ISO as high as needed to allow a faster shutter, and position tongue just so.
I use a tripod and manual so that I don't have to go for a crazy high ISO, which introduces a noise issue and DR is reduced. But even with a tripod, the sky is still moving, so with crop sensor/300-450mm @ 100-400 ISO, the shutter can be as slow as 1/250 and it's still sharp. Gives more to work with on the RAW file. On the other hand, your Moon images look great, so I guess it's just a theory, lolI’m just hand holding my moon shots. I have my camera set at my starting BIF settings: 1/2500 sec, f8, auto ISO. I don’t get any blur with that shutter speed. The big trick is to set your meter to Spot instead of Matrix. Otherwise it will try to expose for a dark sky instead of a very bright moon.
