So this time i used my homemade softbox which is to the right of camera and a reflector on the left hand side for a tiny bit of fill light on her face. You prob can't notice it, my main problem is the space im working with and the size of my backdrop and its half the size a normal one should be. So when i have the money im going back to FabricLand to get the appropriate size.

These are the ones i decided to keep out of the shoot.

I would appreciate any C&C you have. Thanks

Well first you gotta smooth that backdrop out. There is a crease right in the middle every shot.

The last shot... why is she duck facing LOL!

I'm not fond of the black backdrop, black shirt, black hair. Must've been very hard to light.. As far as lighting I prefer #3 the best. All seem alittle soft to me. If you had used the 50mm with these settings I think you would have nailed the focus. Keep it up.

The second shot has the best expression.

Watch how you crop, and where. You have little bits of hand and pants that you either need to show more/all of or none a all.
You are also cutting some body parts in half.

I'm with VTF, black on black on black. Nightmare. You really need a second flash from behind to give some definition to her edges.
I assume you were going for good portrait lighting rather than low key shots, which would be very different lighting.

Sorry. Couldn't help it. Blame e.rose.

And now for something serious. IMHO, when someone tries to hide their middle by sucking it in, it is REALLY amplified by the camera. In a pic like #2, maybe a more flattering natural pose without sucking it in would be better suited. Shes not really that big of a girl at all. There would be lots of ways to make her very flattering without making it look like she's self consiously trying to hide something.

My forgettable .02 Feel free to ignore it.

It looks like the reflector is not angled right, or is too small, to provide much fill-in help. Her hair is pretty dark on the shadow side, and on say, shot #2, the nose shadow is slightly dark and distracting and is the only bad thing in an otherwise decent shot. I'm not sure how large the reflector you have actually is, but to me, something along the lines of a 48x48 inch white fabric square is what I would want for this type of setup. Shot #2 does a good job of portraying her and showing her off the best; her hair looks really good and has an excellent shine on the main light side; the hair that overlays her near shoulder shows good shine; the color of her eye shadow is visible; the shape of her jaw and cheek is visible; her womanly figure is shown off pretty well; she has a realistic, confident expression. I just keep coming back to that dark area beside the nose...darn!

Ha! I didn't think she was sucking it in on #2. I thought she had excellent posture an was exuding confidence.

Meh. I calls it as I sees it. To me it looks like she's not terribly comfortable. I could be wrong. It happens more frequently than I'd like.

Thanks for the comments and advice! And watch what you say about my girl huh :-P , ill have to revisit the studio another day. Well the good news is im going shopping tomorrow for more equipment so they will defiantly improve.
