Great shot! I'm wondering if I might have seen one before but mistaken it for a catbird, they look very similar. Got to look for the whites around the eyes.

these are pretty rare in ontario don't think you would have mistaken it for a catbird you can see the white eyering on this bird with the naked eye.

I wish we had a bird ID thread...

I can identify a great number of birds... as long as they have engines.

Your shot made me think of this guy... probably not even close? More of a white belly and not such defined eyes.


If we had a bird ID thread, I wouldn't be hijacking your thread right now...

That one is a Northern Mockingbird with that bright white wing bar longer and slightly curved bill.

I just might do that. I always have some shots that I'd like to ID, but aren't needed for C&C

Looks like a mourning dove's head almost. Neat bird and beautiful crop. Really nice pic.
