The problem is the term "beginner" is too broad and we've no real way to divide people up into experience groups, there are some who've been shooting 10 years or more who still count themselves as a beginner. It was fast turning into not just beginner but any and everything appearing.

This is the why for the clampdown - and honestly we are mostly only returning beginners back to what it was originally around a year or so ago.

I don't know. I've been here since 2009, and Beginners has always been a dumping ground it seems. All the other forums were dead except this one. Will be interesting to see what these changes do to TPF for the long run...

I say just nuke the whole beginners section.

I cannot think of a single topic that would not fit into one of the 'regular' sections. If you're worried that people will not realize that you're a beginner and be too harsh on you, just preface your post with "I'm new at this", "I'm a beginner", etc...

I guess instead of just deleting it, renaming it "The Basics" would make more sense, considering that it is right above "Beyond the Basics" in the forum hierarchy.

It's a good suggestion and one I will mention - however it seems renaming sections affects the search code of the site itself. The last name change somewhat broke a section of the search system which had to be fixed/rebuilt. I'm not directly involved so can't be more specific, but further name changes in the near future might not be possible to enact.

You and yours have a general problem with me posting AT ALL. I don't see you being accused of creating drama either, which is what you are doing.
It's abundantly clear that you want trouble with me. Maybe we should get together and jump up and down on foamy air pillow thingies to lose weight, but weight a minute. I don't need to lose weight and I run about 4 miles every other way.
But I could always watch you and video it for you for your next exciting youtube video. I could also be beneficial in a healthy diet and teach you how to build muscle.
Then we could BOTH, BE IT.
