Traveling to LA

Well Ive decided to travel to Los Angeles, California for 6 days in March. Im flying southwest airlines and wanted to know any tips on traveling with gear, I plan on bringing my d610, 70-200, 24-70, and 14-24 along with other misc items. ( Filters, flashes, ect ect) so my question is how many of you have a travel bag for your gear? A specific bag that either rolls or is possibly a hard case. I feel like my current bag, (cloth non protective) would not stand a chance with all the traveling. Anyone have any ideas? Keep in mind I am a 20 year old college student so a 200-300 dollar bag is just not practical for me since I do not travel as much as Id like.

If you can swing ~100, a Lowepro Slingshot 300 aw will hold all that and you can carry on.

Go to goodwill, buy a cheap used suitcase.
pad your stuff well, check it
but insure it.

IMO, that's overkill for LA which is the least photogenic city I can think of.

Possibly trade a smaller lowepro bag for it? Or maybe a over the shoulder bag? Lmk
