Tree in park at sunrise, overcast, mild fog

Cool thing about experiencing this shot was that the very subtle fog/mist was rolling in with a lightly lilting breeze towards me. So the tree, I think, was essentially "catching" the fog/mist as it drifted in, which from where I was standing created this almost "super focused" effect on the tree, where the fog was cut in front of the tree, but pervaded most of the rest of the scene. It was really subtle such that I really had to take some pretty extreme care to hold the effect in processing. The Classic Chrome setting on my X100T held it, while the enhanced contrast and saturation of the Velvia setting totally destroyed it.

I really love subtle tonal variations from green to white in misty overcast weather in low contrast.

I think this is a really nice scene.
Unfortunately, the thing that grabs my eye the most is the bright circle of sky to the left of the tree. The tree should not be competing with the sky here and I think it's losing that battle. I would play with some subtle vignette or the "lighten/darken center" filter in color efex if you have it or something similar. Nothing obvious - just enough to give the tree a fighting chance. Nice eye.

Hmm that's very interesting. My original concern was that it was too simple and that it was kind of boring because the sky is so featureless nobody would look at anything but the tree.
