My first b&w photo. Is it any good? What do you like or don't like about it?

I'm pretty sure the dark tree is the subject, but there's way too much other stuff there that are distractions. All the other trees, the two conifers on the right, the road, the leaning trunk, the limb in the lower right. The eye wanders around, looking for something to latch on to.

Compositionally, it's in the (traditionally) worst spot for a subject... dead center.

As for b&w, it's a bit dark. Maybe that was the mood you were looking for.

I like the shades of dark and that is a nice tree. But it would work better if you in your composition made the subject clear. I suggest reading up on composition in photography, with a bit of basic knowledge about youll find your photos fast improving.
