Tripod help

Semi new to photography. Am in a camera club and most everyone thats a good photographer uses a tripod most of the time. I have never owned one. I have a Canon 60D and am looking to buy a tripod w/quick release ball head. I know you're not supposed to buy cheaper ones, but there is a Manfrotto 294 at Adorama for $169. Thats about the most I should spend on one. Any input on this tripod??

That looks to be a good tripod. I have a Manfrotto 190 that I really like and the 294 appears to be a bit bigger than the 190.

Be aware that it does NOT include a head, that is a set of tripod legs only. Most better tripods do not include the head.

Edit ... I take that last comment back. B&H's web site specifically states that it does include a ball head. My mistake, sorry.
