Tripods and ball heads

I'm just a firm believer in Manfrotto. I've had a number of tripods but I've never splurged for one of the top brands. Perhaps my opinion of Manfrotto would drop a little if I had ever owned one of the upper-crust tripods but I haven't. I've had this one 2 or 3 years, it has been used a LOT, and it has never faltered once. It's solid, it's reliable and it does what I want from a tripod. In my opinion, dollar for dollar, they are hard to beat.

I have to agree with this. I picked up and played with quite a few tripods before purchasing one and yes will the top-notch brands felt solid. I couldn't justify the price tag. Picking up my manfrotto and looking at the price tag. I knew I was getting a QUALITY product at a FAIR price. I don't think you will go wrong their.

Thanks for the replies, very helpful, it seems Manfrotto is the best make for quality relative to price, so will go with the 054CXPRO3 tripod and the ball head I originally chose.

Thanks again, James
