 Useful critique.

It's not an interesting shot, thus the lack of critique (most likely).

Yeah its not the most interesting shot, but what it lacks in that makes up for the nice contrast of color.

When I was in my grad school, we had critique sessions every week. What we do is, whoever is supposed to present his/her work will set up their work in whatever way he/she wishes. The group comes in and talk about it for 45min without the artist explaining anything. The artist will just sit in the back and listen to the reactions of the group. After the discussion is done, the artist then explains him/herself and respond to questions, doubts or recognitions.

The point is, it's not about whether a work is good or bad. It's about whether a work is interesting enough to sustain 45min of continuous discussion without being explained.

In this case, if this photo was to be shown at the critique session, you will get all the silence in the world.

A-ha. Finally. :D

Thanks for the critiques everyone.

Nicely put.

As a new guy, I can certainly understand this.

About the photo:
To me it was interesting, it caught my NEW eye right away. Maybe it is because I like these types of shots. I thought it was nice and clear and sort of "artsy" at the same time. Be aware, my 2 cents is not quite worth that yet.

We all have our things. I have a deep fascination with shots of cemetery angels. I love them, but for most people they're kind of 'meh'.

The key is that I can see why they're meh to people and I understand there isn't too much I can do about it... and beyond that, that I don't need to. Some of my pictures are just for me.
