These are the first HDR images I made that I've been really happy with.

I'd have peed my pants if I was able to do that my first go around!

Oh No... there are the first one's that turned out nice. I have plenty of crap too, and other's that I cant make work for some reason... I found I got better results the more conservative I went. I'm not a huge fan of the hyper-real stuff, I like the natural look. I also bracketed with 3 groups of 3, from -7 to +7 with one at 0 and picked the best 3 images. I wanted the underexposed shadows to still have some detail in them.

Ev7 is way overkill for a scene like this I would've stopped at ev4
Always meter out the scene

Very nice work. My only comments are too much magenta in the sky in #1. And I think the exposure could be brightened by 1 fstop in #2. It seems its a nice area but your compositions have included some of the grungy stuff like rusy fences etc. Something that you wouldnt want to hang on the wall. A nice clean image of nature would be more appealing to me. But thats only an opinion. As I said nice work.

I'm not sure I agree. The processing displayed here I would catergorize under surrealistic, not natural. That said, I think these are well processed surrealistic images with avoidance of the typical mistakes made in this approach (noise, haloing, etc.)

I love your images! They are the surrealistic approach that I am trying to achieve. What programs are you using to produce they images? Photomatx, Ps, etc.... All in all, I think they look great. Also, where where these photos taken? Beautiful scenery to say the least! LOVE THE B&W!

Thanks! I can't remember the name of the program, but I was a free one. (ill find out as soon as i get back to my computer) It has several presets to work from. I kinda picked the the one I liked the best and tweaked till it came out how I wanted it. If you don't, you'll end up with over-saturated images with halos everywhere. It's a horrid program to use. When I get mo$ I'm going for photomatx. These were all taken in Gaviota, CA. About 60 miles up the coast from LA.
