This is a really devious image in several ways, which is a good thing. For one, it's an image with a centered subject whose composition works because there are enough lines and enough asymmetry to direct one's eye away from the center. It also seems out of focus at first, but it just has shallow depth of field and the focus point is the flower's interior parts. Then there's the shadow line and bright paper corner in the foreground - tempting to say they're distracting but that depends on the intended effect, doesn't it? I feel like this is trying to say something, but I don't know what it is, and I'm not sure I like it, although I'd like to keep looking at it to see if I can figure it out, and maybe that's more important.

Thanks, Ken. It's hard to say what's "intended" in this.

This is just a picture I visualized in my head at some point, and eventually got around to making. My visualization didn't have every detail, so some elements are improvised or just a consequence of the lens I was using and the light I had. I had the paper, the fold, and the flower. I trusted that the light and shadows would do something interesting, and I moved the light around until I liked the results.

I kind of want some writing on the envelope, but something I cannot read ... sort of like seeing it through the paper. A name maybe. A single word.
