Lost me on this one. I thought it was an abstract fork.

Maybe I oughta better posted it in macros. Meh.

Color is nice as is the light but there isn't enough in focus to hold my interest long enough to want to hang around. Too many disinteresting elements without something to tie them together.

I'm not feeling it either...
The light seems to take away more than it adds IMHO

I wish the bottom petal wasn't folded over. I would have like it to be more symmetrical -flowing off the frame like the top petal. (I know thats out of your control).

I think you were going for a certain look, and you pulled it off quite nicely in my opinion.

The colors are very nice, and this is not a view that is often seen, so to me its interesting.

I like the tones but if you had not mentioned it was a tulip I would have had no idea what it was.... might be worth rethinking.

I like the backlighting, and the lovely organic shapes, but that large empty jet-black space in the lower right is simply killing the shot...it looks so out of place, and so,so empty... if you crop it to a square, what's left behind works in harmony. The dead space just ruins the effect, and I think for the photographically savvy, it looks like a black-card-background floral shot...it looks "staged", and staged without full thought given to a whole segment of the image. I do like the delicacy of the backlighting, and the nice rendering of detail. This is a departure from the oh-so-cliche tulip shots that pop up this time of year, so that is a plus, and it does give one 'pause'.

Thanks, everyone, as usual.

Interesting comment on the black area, Derrel. As you probably know, I am in love with acres of flat blackness, so it will probably not surprise you to know that I love the big black blotch excessively. I am squinting and trying to see it your way, I do think I get your point. It looks better contained inside a grey border, it turns out, rather than looking like a black hole stretching out to infinity, but still, your point stands.

This absolutely IS a staged black-card-background-floral shot, so I don't mind that it looks that way.
