The highlights are a little harsh for my liking, but otherwise these are nice. I love the hand and finger positioning in the first photo. I really like the studded top in the second; it adds a nice texture, and the lighting puts enough focus onto her face in order to make the top not a distraction.

Is that just makeup there, or is there actually a phantom shadow with no source I can discern on it?

^My guess is makeup. You can see through the shadows cast by her fingers on the other eye that the makeup is the same.
