2.

Flowered Pasture by Danielle S. Photography, on Flickr

The thing I do not like about #2, is the branch in the top right hand corner protruding into the photo. However, I've tried to clone it out, but keep butchering the different blues in the sky, and can't get them to match.

Any feedback or tips to improve is always welcome and appreciated!

Neither of them really stand out to me. They aren't bad, but they don't seem eye catching.

In the first one, my eye is drawn to the area of greatest contrast, which is the dark side of the barn. But the trouble is, when my eye gets there, it's not very interesting. In this light, the front of the barn is more interesting, so maybe it would work better if you tried to make that the strong focal point, rather than the dark side.

Another issue, and this goes for both, is that it appears your camera position is 'regular standing height'...which isn't bad or wrong, but it doesn't tend to add any interest. Try experimenting with different perspectives...higher, lower etc.

Part of the reason that they aren't grabbing me, is that the sky is a bland color and the trees are mostly bald. Just not a great time of day or time of year.

There is an old saying that goes something like...if you want your photos to be more interesting...point your camera at more interesting stuff. The scenes aren't all that interesting but more importantly, the lighting isn't interesting either. Sometimes great things look bland it bad light and just about anything can look good when the lighting is right.

This is why it's often recommend to shoot just after dawn and just before dusk.
