two park photos in need of criticism, helpful or otherwise

Hi everyone. this first photo i took about a year ago and re-edited a few months ago and have personally fell in love with just the look and color. the second photo i took a few months ago and was pleased with the intense fog. i would like to know what everyone else thinks, either technically or artistic and compositionally. thank you in advance for all the positive and negative responses, oh and please don't coddle me, i come here to look for the harsh truth

The photo of the waterfront has good color but the distant shoreline is blurry. The houses draw the eye but I think your attention was on the rocks, water and perhaps sky. I would have gotten more sky in the composition and exposed for that, leaving the trees (and homes) in silhouette. You still would have gotten some light reflection off the rocks.

The second photo has good composition but it's underexposed. The depth is a good factor but is a bit much. More emphasis should be on the couple in the distance.

The second one I like, but the middle subject is too far away. There is a lovely scene there that you can't see. You may hate my suggestion here, but I have cropped to 4:3 format and you can now see the pier lights continue in the distance. The sign above says Friendship trail and its good to see all three friends in the centre of the shot. I have converted to black and white in Silver efex also

to both fanboy and thereyougo so you are looking for more of a shot like this of the second one?

i do like thereyougo's suggestion of the black and white. there were a few shots i took of this couple walking over the bridge. i think i got too focused on the scene the people were in instead of the people. thank you both.

I like the original one, the black and white does work also for me.
